Virtual Field Trip: China for Chinese/Lunar New Year
Buckle up and head to China for Lunar New Year, also known as Spring Festival and Chinese New Year! This virtual field trip covers the history of the Lunar New Year, the Legend of Nian, the Chinese Zodiac, special traditions for Chinese New Year, and scenes from China during Lunar New Year.
This virtual field trip will start by giving your students some hints as to where they will be traveling. Students will make predictions. Students will access prior knowledge about Lunar New Year.
Your students will then hop on board a flight to Beijing Airport. While in flight— you will learn about the Legend of Nian and listen to a read-aloud of Bringing in the New Year by Grace Lin. Students will then touchdown in Beijing.
After touching down in Beijing, students can explore some additional history, traditions, customs, and meals that are common for Lunar New Year!
